It's official. Utah is the most diverse state I've ever seen. I thought Washington was diverse, and it is... Walla Walla and Eastern Washington are way different from Gig Harbor and western Washington... BUT... Utah has the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, and other amazing feats of nature and then it's contrasted with Park City and Salt Lake City, amazing feats of man.
Park City is my new future destination. It is the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics and besides being an outdoorsy town, it has an amazing ski area, a ski jump practice pool (that you can go in for a price!), bobsledding, a zip line, and other things. I have to figure out how to work there for a bit so I can play. The facilities are amazing and being in an Olympic park is totally inspiring. (Have I ever mentioned my dream to coach or assist a third world Olympic swim team?)
After Park City's gas stop that got extended by my excessive drooling, we went to Salt Lake City. What a unique city - it is all arranged around Temple Square, a 35 acre place dedicated to the LDS tabernacle, temple, museums, gardens, offices, and visitor's center. It's really really impressive.
We spent the night at Utah Lake, and we got to swim! So refreshing! The next day, we went wading in the Great Salt Lake. It sure is salty!
glad you had fun! i never made it out to Park City but i always wanted to. and the Salt Lake is soooo weird, and gross, to swim in but still a fun experience :) stay safe driving!
