BABY ANIMALS!

To add to my confusion as to what to call this season of the year (see blog), I have certain signs of spring “springing up” all around me.

There are flowers in pots just outside my room (my host mom LOVES flowers).

There is rain that smells like spring rain in Seattle (and the fall rain, and the winter rain, and the summer rain… but we’ll focus on rain, not how much there is)

And… there are baby animals!!!

We have three adorable baby animals at my house.  Two of which I never want to touch because I fear that they have fleas and one of which I want to be friends with but I think it does not want any of that.

First, let me introduce you to gatito (little cat).
 She’s pretty darn cute.

Then, we have monito (little monkey).
 She’s even cuter.
These two together are almost a health hazard… especially when they get stuck on the curtain door to the kitchen and then with their claws stuck in it, swing in and fall on the kitchen floor, dangerously close to the abuela’s walking path.  Mama cat has a lot of work on her hands.  It’s a shame I always have fleas, otherwise I would try to be their friend.  I want to avoid either them giving me more or me sharing mine with them.

THEN… there’s the newest addition to our family!  Patito/Gonzito!  (Little duck/little goose)

We’re not sure what type of animal he is… nor gender.  My host brother found him in the street and brought him home to be a pet (and the new family debate is if he will become food at a later time or not).
I think he knows that we don’t know if he’s duck or goose, guy or girl, nor food or pet because he is grumpy.  I don’t think ducks can have fleas (maybe?) so I want to be his friend but he wants nothing to do with that.  It’s a shame.
 But he’s pretty darn cute!

Yay baby animals!
